How It Started...

Three months ago, I introduced Think Outside Photography to the world with the launch of our website www.thinkoutsidephotography.com.

Traveling is something that I am passionate about and taking photographs to document those experiences along the way has easily become one of my favorite things to do. It’s not lost on me that I have been afforded some amazing opportunities over the years which have aided in that appreciation - I was selected for a homestay program in Ghana as a public high school student, I studied abroad in England for a semester while pursuing my undergraduate degree, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have a career that supports my endeavors to travel for both business and leisure now.

My photographs had always been something I held close to my heart. Then in 2020, life as we all knew it came to a halt. During the pandemic - when it was easy to feel isolated and alone - I found solace in the memories that I had of my travels - the liberties it afforded, the cultures it introduced me to, the appreciation of nature and the great outdoors it encouraged. For they say, experiences come and go, but memories last a lifetime.

Unable to travel at the time, I made the decision to bring my travels to me. I adorned my walls with original images that brought me peace and joy. Even if for just a moment in time, I transcended the confines of my home and was fondly reminded that a beautiful world was out there awaiting our triumphant return.

Then it dawned on me ... if these images could bring me joy, then why not share them with the world to do the same? From its inception, my mission with Think Outside Photography has been to highlight the intrinsic, yet sometimes overlooked, beauty in seemingly familiar spaces.

I am often asked, "Which image from the gallery is your personal favorite?" It’s the photograph of a home on Tonlé Sap Lake, a water village in Siem Riep, Cambodia. Not only do the colors in the photograph invoke warmth, but it serves as a reminder to me that “photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them” – hence why I affectionately titled that image Home Is Where The Heart Is.

There is so much beauty in the world around us. I hope these images - and those to come - continue to serve as a reminder.

Thank you for your support!
